Punta Pesebre Beacon

The Punta Pesebre beacon is a strange communications construction, a maritime signal with a shorter range than the lighthouses and which in this case complements the nearby one at Punta de Jandía, warning sailors of the dangers of the extreme north of this peninsula.

The name of the area is due to a transcription error of the original toponymy. In fact, the point was called Punta Presebe, because the “presebe” is what the barnacle is called in Fuerteventura, also called “pata cabra” due to the peculiar shape of the head of this marine crustacean. Do not look for any manger around.
