Windmill

It looks like a castle in ruins, but it is actually the tower of an old windmill, used to grind cereal and make flour and gofios.
The first of these mills were introduced in Fuerteventura between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, importing the typical type of mills from La Mancha. Very similar therefore to the mills against which Don Quixote fought.
It consists of a circular masonry tower, made with stone, mud and lime. It was crowned by a wooden hood, which rotated by means of a rudder, directing the four blades to the wind.
The mills on the island have been declared a Site of Cultural Interest by Decree 162/1994, of July 29, with a monument category.
